I had to arrive in Hong Kong, to meet with several of my business partners and to order a bunch of various containers that had to be delivered in a month of two to Europe. So basically there was no reason to rent expensive or extremely facilitated rooms. I was staying in B&B hotels.
So basically this is what I recommend you guys as well, especially if you have often business deals in Hong Kong. Stop wasting your money trying to look good in front of others. You’ll certainly have plenty of time to do this when you are rich and most of you guys will probably get there soon, if you are working hard. Nevertheless, what I am trying to say is that if you are reading this blog you are probably looking for solutions to avoid wasting so much money on traveling to places like Hong Kong. Choose bed and breakfast for the beginning and you’ll be fine.
No matter how good looking may other type of accommodation options look like you guys need to be able to make the right decision, which will be taken in concordance with the main purpose of your journey. I have nothing against a more sophisticated accommodation type when taking your family on vacation to Hong Kong for example. However, when you are thinking about business and you are aware of the fact that time is money you don’t want to waste a lot of time. Booking a hotel a month before you arrive is a lot of time and you certainly don’t need this.
If I were you, a beginner trying to do business in China, I would probably start with bed and breakfast hotels each time when flying to Hong Kong and also try to seek my luck by checking last minute accommodation offers at various online hotels. You never know when you’ll be offered the chance to stumble upon a great luxury suite for the price of an ordinary cheap hotel room. It’s all about properly investigating the scene.
